Team coaching

Teams put lots of time into skills training but how much time is put into fitness? Whilst individuals may pursue their own programmes away from the pitch, as a team, few give this area the collective focus it deserves.

Just a single weekly fitness session, however, can significantly boost performance - and help you get your team up to the level it deserves.

Meeting challenges together

Whilst individual team players can normally be relyed upon to maintain at least a minimum level of fitness, the benefits of a team session can enhance every area of your competitive performance. The act of bringing everyone together for even just an hour a week not only focuses the mind on what that minimum needs to be but also introduces players to new ideas and motivations which might otherwise be overlooked.

Each programme is different, of course. The needs of a netball player are far removed from the needs of rugby, hockey or football players. And rowers. In reality, every sport puts it own individual demands on the body and the content of a fitness programme should therefore be tailored to your sport's specific needs.

However, team fitness does not have to be time consuming. Added to or structured in as part of an existing skills session - or run in its place during the crucial build-up period to a coming season - fitness places minimum additional demands on people's time whilst also ironing out issues which might otherwise hold back a highly skilled team of individuals.
